|Do not disappoint us again, Aliff!|
No longer the captain of the Stags but Aliff Shafaein certainly played like one on Saturday afternoon against the Young Lions. He chased down balls when it was lost with conviction and certainly linked up well with new midfield partner, Ahmad Latiff.
What was more heartening was also the fact that his teammates looked as though they had forgiven him for his irresponsible behaviour during the Cup Final day last year through their body language. On the pitch, Aliff looked really determined to set things right as he sprayed passes and supported Shahdan Sulaiman and Aleksandar Duric well.
It was also reported in the papers that Aliff had behaved well while in prison and he seemed really determined to turn over a new leaf by imposing himself a curfew and making plans to pay back those who have helped him settle his fines.
As a fan and more importantly as another fellow human being, I wish him all the best in his future endeavours. I do hope he will return a better player and more importantly a better person. His Tampines Rovers team mates, coaches and chairman have shown him the support and I think we Singapore fans too should be more forgiving and welcome him back to the football fraternity. People do make mistakes and if his employers can give him another chance, I do not see why we can't as well!
Good Luck Aliff! You have my support!
(and singing to the tune of "We Won It Five Times") ....
He's FIVE FOOT THREE, HE'S FIVE FOOT THREE....We've got back ALIFF, Who's Khairul Amri?!
