The Ball is now on your side of the court, FAS!

After the numerous calls of pressure from fans for the FAS to say something, they finally unveiled news yesterday at Jalan Besar Stadium. The long awaited news of the 12th team was delivered and of course the news of more money being promised to be on the way. Most importantly, the confirmation of the big kick off is set at 12th February.

But even with that, the fans still remain skeptical but nevertheless, have a better degree of optimism as compared to recent weeks. Who can blame them. In the past, promises have been made but all under delivered. This time round, we hope that all the promises made will be kept.

However, what the FAS fail to realise time and time again is the importance of fans in decision making processes. I have said many times that fans are a major stakeholder in Singapore football. It is sad when fans have to somehow have their opinions aired on the papers rather than FAS themselves asking for our inputs and opinions. They need to know that the only way forward is to get fans on their side and not just those with the huge pockets. They need to know that we fans, rich or poor, are the driving force in this industry and we are the ones that they have to actually please.

And so the date is set. On the 9th of February, the Stags will face the Stars in a charity shield match, a curtain raiser to the S-League. However, the true test will come three days later when the Young Lions entertain the Warriors at an unprecedented timing. Lets hope this marketing strategy works. Owh and do I have to remind you that to gain back the fans, advertising and marketing needs to be done every single minute of every single day.

Rest assured, if you do your part, the fans will do ours.
