A monster of a player on the pitch.
A true gentle giant and a role model off it.
His immortal words :
No drinking, no alcohol, no smoking, no late nights. If you want to do that, you will never go far
Most of us have been guilty of at least one of that but then again, those words are the most ideal for anyone if they want to stay in shape and respect their body, ensuring that at his age, you can outpace and outrun and "nutmeg" or "ole" someone who is almost half his age.
The LATW Crew has always been supportive of any player who dons the red jersey and playing their hearts out.
But then, in every team and in every fan base, there will always be one cult hero.
Liverpool loves Jamie Carragher to their death. Man Utd fans just love Gary Neville. Francesco Totti will always be the darling of AS Roma while Raul Gonzalez will always be the king of Madrid.
For us, or at least a whole lot of us, and in this generation, our man goes by the name of Aleksandar Duric.
Heroes and icons are created in every generation. We had Majid Ariff, Dollah Kassim, Fandi Ahmad. Maybe in the future, Hariss Harun will make a name for himself. But right now, the moment is reserved for one special player.
In this generation, we adore Aleksandar Duric.
He is someone you would tell your son to imitate or follow his footsteps and he is someone that an adult wishes that he has the same level of fitness.
On Friday, the 12th of August, Aleks celebrated his 41st birthday and we at LATW Crew would want to dedicate a special tribute for him.
How apt is his birthday being so close to the nation's birthday. He may be born in a foreign land, represented his country of birth in the Olympics once but you could see how proud he is to be a Singaporean.
To him, holding a pink IC after so long applying to be a citizen is a privilege. He is known to be someone who wants to contribute to the country that has given him and his family so much. And this, is our appreciation towards him.
And so, to Aleksandar Duric, happy 41st birthday. May you have 41 more years of joy and good luck and thank you for all your hard work and effort you have given to the country's league, your respective clubs that you have represented, your inspiration to us all Singaporeans and your service to the country.
P.S, SORRY FOR THE POOR QUALITY VIDEO!
Regards,
Arief
Proud member and founder of the LATW Crew
