Making a Bald Statement.....

LATW Crew is proud to announce our participation in the Hair for Hope 2012 campaign!

Football means a whole lot to all of us at LATW Crew. But football ain't everything in our lives...

As part of our 1st anniversary, LATW Crew is proud to announce that we will be participating in the Hair for Hope 2012 campaign. The Hair for Hope campaign is organized by the Children's Cancer Foundation (CCF) where the organization and participants hope to raise awareness on childhood cancer in Singapore and raise funds to help these children and their families.

More importantly, it is a campaign to lend support to those in need through giving hope and telling these kids that it is OK to be bald.

The LATW Crew has pledged to send participants for this event to get our heads shaved as well as help raise funds through collecting donations for the cause.

Furthermore, we hope that we can get as many people to join us and participate in this event and do their bit for the community.

Interested participants can contact our coordinator, Mr Juffrey through messaging him on facebook! If you do not want to have your heads shaved, it is ok because there are other ways in which you can contribute!

All our lives, we have never given up supporting the national team through their ups and downs. Now, it is time for us to be there for these children as well.....

The World Don't just revolve around 2 teams....

Suzuki Cup, that's the aim for this year. Hopefully, it'll go well...

So it's set then. Raddy will lead the line for this year's Suzuki Cup in search for redemption. Quite possibly, this is his last chance to at least return the Lions to the pinnacle of Southeast Asian football and who knows, if we manage to get a good run, it'll springboard to greater success such as the Asian Cup Qualification.

And that's a tournament we should look forward to alongside other continental tournaments such as the AFC Cup competitions or aim to at least participate in the Asian Champions League for our clubs.

Only that can we test our talent against the best in Asia. Well, already we are lacking top quality international friendlies.

" We must understand that we have launched S.League version 2.0 and we are trying to work towards a more professionally managed schedule"

Sounds familiar? Yes, that's the president talking when quizzed on the lack of friendlies. And from that, the only thing that we can UNDERSTAND is that you are blaming the S.League's development as the main reason why OUR NATIONAL TEAM is failing? Owh come on!

ridiculous quotes... (click for the article)

Fast forward a few days later...

"The only way to rebuild is to ensure that there is a strong pipeline of players coming through our ranks. With the LionsXII and the Courts Young Lions doing well, we are hoping that the pipeline will be strong with those new players available for national team selection"

There you go! Already it is stated that the national team players are most likely selected from your beloved team that is not playing in the S.League, so HOW THE HELL is it the S.League's fault?

And for the record, Singapore football doesn't revolve around those two teams and to say that, is just an insult to all the other local clubs and all the other local players who are in contention for national team selection.

Just so you know, if you haven't already known, the S.League players deserve more than this. Hopefully, Raddy has saw enough talent in the S.League and choose truly the best players for our national team that suits tactics, playing style and of course, players with discipline.

Singapore football doesn't revolve around just few teams. And the media, this message is for you as well!

Man City, Ajax, Porto & Boca... WE'RE COMING FOR YOU!

2012 Lion City Cup; WE CAN'T WAIT!

( video taken from MCYS youtube channel): enjoy our song at the start as well!

It was in the 2011 Lion City Cup that left fond memories for members of the LATW Crew. In spite being newly formed and unofficial (we still are), it did not stop us from singing and cheering our hearts out for our two Singapore teams.

Many other memories still are fresh in our minds. Like how we made friends with the boys from Newcastle and Everton, exchanging scarves with them , that comeback win over Newcastle in spite being 3-1 down and also the bond we forged with our own players and their parents. Staying back late into the night just to wait for the boys and cheer them on after their defeat was definitely one of the best moments for the LATW Crew.

This year, we simply can't wait to banter again with these foreign teams and their fans.

We wish our two Singapore teams the best of luck and we wish the teams visiting us an unforgettable stay in our Lion City. This time, the trophy is coming back home!

And we can't wait to sing our favourite song:
NANANANANANANA, ADAM SWANDI , SWANDI, ADAM SWANDI!!!

UNTUK BANGSA DAN NEGARA!

If you feel like giving up, DON'T!

Times can never be tougher, but if anyone of you feels like giving up, don't.

S.League. Not going to be a poorer cousin, someone claimed to be. Apparently, after 2 months or so into the 2012 season of the S.League, it seems that not only has it become a poorer cousin. It seems that it is kicked out of the family altogether.

From the looks of it, the promises made earlier were nothing but empty promises. It seems that the S.League is left to fend on its own with a few dedicated personnel really running the show to the best of their abilities.

It seems that even the players now know that they cannot compete given the exodus of stars to form another team. The Young Lions looked like mere pussycats as compared to Harimau Muda in the league and we don't need to guess why. And it looks to get worse as the season goes by.

Meanwhile, the foreign clubs like DPMM and Harimau Muda are slowly enjoying wins after wins, easily dispatching some of the clubs with easy wins.

In the mainstream front, it looks as if "there isn't enough space" for our very own domestic league anymore. If the work of a reporter is to just sit at home and summarize what they see on S.League TV, then might as well the mainstream media hire a primary 4 kid to do that job!

Exciting S.League games are relegated to mere snippets, sharing a column with redundant golf news from god knows where.

The eastern derby between Geylang and Tampines apparently did not have enough to be made a story out off but a report card of a foreign league can be beautifully slotted in the papers.

A few weeks back, 8000 was at the Jalan Besar Stadium for a football game. A few weeks later, only a paltry crowd of 800 cheered on Tampines Rovers in a continental cup game. Spillover they claim it would be.

Meanwhile, clubs have been putting in tons of effort to try and draw crowds in. Balestier has sprung up a few surprises in the attendance statistics and Albirex has been ever professional in the day to day running of the clubs. The lads in Geylang United have been running on  passion and effort alone to drive the club back to where it used to be. Tanjong Pagar too have been getting themselves involved in the community they are in and so is every club in general. Vivocity tie ins, blood donation drives, football clinics and what have you.

In general, the competition has become more and more competitive with surprising results and performances that mean the world to these players.

But sadly, no stories on these efforts were enough to be picked up. " We write what readers want to read" they might say. Again, spillover? What spillover?

Sure, it hasn't been perfect. Sure, some criticisms are really valid. But our league doesn't deserve this.

It is only a matter of time that fixtures of S.League will clash will the team that is of the interests of many. Owh wait, it already is. Spillover? Or should it be called cutting into the already small market and forcing people to choose? Yeah right, spillover!

At the time of this post, many players in the S.League may be disappointed and down. But if you feel like giving up, don't!

Times have never been tougher but you need to carry on your hard work and your dedication. Keep the spirit alive and the flame burning.

If the administrators interested in only money don't care, if the media don't think "you are worth the space", if the haters ridicule or laugh at you, then pay no attention to them.

Because there are many out there that still do care......

This post is dedicated to :
1. The S.League and club personnel who have given their all in ensuring that the league survives
2. The S.League players who have given their all in the games they play and the training sessions that underwent.
3. The photographers, the bloggers and the WRITERS FROM THE ALTERNATIVE MEDIA who have willingly and passionately write about the S.league.
4. And the loyal fans who have stayed to support the S.League and their clubs.
